Research scoping and planning
Defra user researchers:
- run scoping workshops to build a shared understanding of the problem
- create and agree research plans so research meets programme and stakeholder needs before delivery starts
Research plans are mandatory for all DDTS user researchers.
Research scoping and planning process
When scoping and planning research, you should follow these steps:
- Run a research scoping workshop with key stakeholders and colleagues using the research scoping workshop template.
- Capture the agreed scope in the research plan template and make sure the approach represents all users.
- Submit the research plan to your lead user researcher (if your delivery group has one) for review or approval.
- Share the approved plan with your team so everyone is aligned.
